Pro-Life is Pro-Woman

There's been a post shared on Facebook in the weeks since the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade that starts out by saying: "I'm not pro-murdering babies." However, it then gives various scenarios where abortion should be justified . The implication is that if someone is pro-life, they only care about the babies themselves, not the women who face pregnancies under difficult circumstances. The truth is, we do care about the women in these situations, perhaps even more so than those that are pro-choice. We are willing to help them see that the answer to a crisis pregnancy is assisting them through the crisis, not getting rid of the pregnancy. That's why in my state we are voting on an amendment called Value Them Both because we do value them both and want to make sure that both the woman and child are well cared for throughout the pregnancy and beyond. Here are the arguments in the oft-shared post, and how each hypothetical woman can be cared for without having a...

Unplanned

"As long as my God holds the world in His hands, I know that there's no such thing as unplanned." ~ Matthew West, " Unplanned " At the end of last month, the movie Unplanned  hit theaters, and I went to see it on opening weekend. It tells the true story of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinic director who switched sides after witnessing an ultrasound guided abortion. While I enjoyed the movie immensely and would highly recommend it, I must confess, it is a bit hard to watch. This movie is not for the faint of heart or weak of stomach, but if you are neither of those things, than I would suggest you see it. After seeing the movie, I was interested to know more of the story, so I got the book from the library and read it. There really wasn't more in the book t...

Ceasefire: A Tale of Two Protests

"No one ever wins when the goal is to settle the score."-For King and Country, " Ceasefire " On August 12th, there were two protests conducted in two separate southern cities. Both were concerning a hot-button issue in this country, and both had the potential to make headlines, yet only one did. The reason why is quite simple: one protest ended violently, while the other remained peaceful. The one that actually made headlines was of course the one in Charlottesville, Virginia. A white supremacist group was protesting the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee when they were met by counter-protesters. Insults began to fly between the two groups, which led to fists flying, kicking off a domino effect that ended with a man driving his car into a group of people, killing one woman and injuring many others. The white supremacist group was blamed for what happened, and while I agree that they were at fault for their actions, the counter-protesters were as much ...
